TL;DR: Book holiday travel soon to lock in better prices and availability for flights, hotels, and rental cars, preventing last-minute overspending and disappointment.

Last updated: September 27, 2026

The holiday season is fast approaching, and savvy travelers are already making plans. According to recent reports, the time to secure your transportation, lodging, and flights is now, if you want to avoid the inevitable price hikes and scarcity that plague last-minute bookings. For many, the biggest sting comes from rental cars. As availability dwindles, prices can skyrocket, turning a planned budget-friendly trip into an expensive ordeal. This isn't a mystery; it's basic supply and demand. When everyone waits until the last minute, the few remaining vehicles become premium-priced commodities. The same principle applies to flights and hotels. Early booking often means access to a wider range of options at their initial, more reasonable price points. Delaying your decisions can mean settling for less convenient times, less desirable locations, or significantly higher costs. To combat this, a proactive approach is essential. Start by researching your preferred destinations and travel dates. Once you have a clear picture, prioritize booking the most volatile components first. Often, this means rental cars and flights, as their availability can change most rapidly. Beyond just booking early, consider flexibility. If your dates or destinations can shift slightly, you might uncover more affordable options. Also, keep an eye on pricing trends. While we don't predict specific numbers, understanding that demand drives cost is key to making informed decisions. For homeowners in Phoenix who might also be considering local travel or needing transportation while guests are in town, when engaging licensed, insured rental car providers, it's wise to ask about their fleet availability for your specific dates and inquire about any early booking incentives they might offer. Understanding their local operational capacity can also be beneficial. When you're ready to arrange your holiday rental car needs in and around Phoenix, Arizona, a simple call can help clarify your options.
